Public Safety & Order Program

The main goal/objective is to be able to implement to the full extent the different public safety and order programs of the municipality. This would reassure the public that anti-social behaviors and common public annoyances will be greatly reduced or eliminated. The following are the main concerns of the program:

  1. Implementation of Curfew

The widespread increase of petty crimes, violence and the selling or using of illegal drugs are usually happening during the night up to early dawn. Among those involved with these incidents are minors. Thus, one of the primary concerns of this program is to implement the curfew time to minors (aged 17 and below) from 10:00 O'Clock in the evening up to 5:00 O'Clock in the morning. The objective is to reduce unwanted incidents that may involve minors and to keep the streets generally peaceful.

  2. Re-organization of Vehicle Traffic

The ever-irritating sight and noise of vehicle traffic in the municipality is no longer new to the public. We cannot pin-point of who or what is the main reason of this growing public frustration. But through the proper coordination between the local government and the motorists, the problem of traffic will be soon avoided. Some excellent traffic methods include vehicle numbering systems, re-routing schemes of public vehicles, managing illegal parking of private vehicles and to execute traffic violations to irresponsible motorists.

  3. Eradication of Illegal Vendors

Vendors around the municipality are only permitted if they are duly approved and accepted by the local government to sell their products or services to consumers. But some areas are inevitably populated by these illegal vendors. Strict implementations must be done to organize the trading business industry. These illegal vendors affect passing vehicles and the people themselves thus making the streets too clogged up and messy. By doing it so, there will be a balance of trade and a smooth interaction of buyers and sellers alike.

  4. PSOD Personnel Visibility Patrol

The program is aimed to provide security to the public by means of sending PSOD personnel to different key areas of the municipality. The personnel will be conducting visual inspection throughout the municipality from day until midnight by using their mobile patrol car to prevent crimes and to quickly respond to public needs. During daytime, the personnel will be more concerned on the most populated areas like student dismissal from schools, public markets and church goers. In the night, theyˇŻll be focusing on capturing minors during curfew hours and by conducting checkpoints to some areas.

  5. Information Campaign

Educating the people about simple guidelines on public order and safety is one way of avoiding untoward incidents that may occur. By handing out leaflets, brochures and publicize such common safety procedures like fire prevention, crime awareness, knowledge of some ˇ°modus operandiˇ±, and the like would greatly benefit the people.
